Here I am in drunky typo land yet again.
The gal is away on some project tonight.
I'm watching Fellowship of the Ring, the last part of it. It's written by men. Men can relate to it. It's about sacrificng oneself for ideals, about the magic of personal failure and personal commitment to an ideal that will tansform you into a leader. It's about painful death. War.
Sadly, it's about an 'evil' enemy that is less than human. In fantasy they are creatures that are created as subhuman, broken and twisted creatures unworthy of life. In reality war is about real human beings fighting for their beliefs, men women and children, dying for some cause, being raped and beaten and destroyed for some purity, it's about the concept that there are those that are less than human. ANd it is about glory. And it is about transformation. And it was written by a man, an overgrown boy, like me.
RIght now there's a huge Pacific windstorm coming through. 90mph gusts at the coast, 50mph gusts where I live. Poqqwer keeps going out, killing my monitor - the PC is on UPS. Lights on, lights off. I wonder if my DVD will be where I left it. It's almost exactly midnight. It's the nadir....
so, if power holds, I go on to the next chapter, the Two Towers....
Of course wine and scotch is in effect. Not too bad. More wine now. Holding on. Coherent, yet dreamy. Ow. If only men would see the larger picture rather than just the compelling personal story. Would recognize the suffernig of the women and kids the old and weak.
So maybe more later. Depends on if anyone says hi. Off for a while.
